COMPETITION RULES

As of september 2016
Penilee Camera Club – Internal Competition Rules(ICR)
Advisory notes on Plagiarism.
Images entered must be entirely the work of the photographer. Composite images are permitted provided all component images meet this requirement. For the avoidance of doubt, use of images from any other source including, but not limited to, royalty free image banks and clipart are not permitted.

A) ENTRY FORM & OVERSUBSCRIPTION (based on time available for judging)

Entry Form:
All entries must be accompanied by a completed entry form.
Members should list their work in order of preference on the entry form, i.e. 1st preference No 1 to least preference No 5 (or 2,3, 4, depending on the number of images being entered).

Oversubscription:
In the event of a competition being oversubscribed the Internal Competition Secretary(ICS) has the discretion to remove a number of images from whichever media has been provided in the majority. This will be done by the removal of an equal number of the least preferred images from each member’s entry, until the entry for that media approximates the number of the least provided media or the judges limit, whatever comes first. No member will have their entry reduce to zero should it ever be necessary to apply this rule. It is acknowledge that precise numbers cannot be addressed within the internal competition rules but the concept of reducing one media to approximate that of the other in order to meet the requirements of the judge is accepted in principal and will be applied by the ICS within the necessary constraints.

Competitions(Prints & Projected Images)
Autumn, Winter & Spring Competitions
Any subject matter for these competitions.
Maximum entry for these competitions is 5 prints, 5 projected images.
* Work submitted for these competitions must be new to the Club and should not be identical or similar to that previously entered by the member. The identical/similar rule will be invoked at the discretion of the ICS and will be accepted in good faith by the membership.
Guidance note to members: It is acknowledged that there is a degree of subjectivity about identical & similar images. However, if you have an image that at first glance appears to be similar to a previously entered image this would suggest that it could fall foul of the competition rules and may be rejected by the ICS so consideration should be given to this when selecting images for internal competitions. Unfortunately competition time scales do not allow the ICS to advise members of image repetition and removal wrt possible replacement. Therefore the onus is on the membership to ensure that they do not provide images that may be rejected

Natural History & Set Competitions
These competitions will take place on alternate sessions.
Maximum entry for these competitions is 5 prints, 5 projected images.
Both these competitions shall be divided into 2 sections.

Members should be aware that external competitions and internationals in particular, have very strict definitions of what constitutes a Natural History image.
Note 2: Subject matter for the Set Competition is decided by the committee based on suggestion made by members. The photographer's interpretation of the set subject should be reflected by the image taken.
Work submitted for these competitions must be new to the club but can have been entered in current seasonal competition of the same session and are also eligible for Annual Competitions of that session.
